At HGL ART, we believe every child learns best through creativity, play, and connection—and our Chess Program brings that philosophy to life through the award-winning Chess at Three curriculum. This one-of-a-kind approach introduces children to the world of chess through interactive storytelling, imaginative characters, and active gameplay that keeps young minds engaged.

A Day in Our HGL Art Preschool's Enrichment Artist Studio
Overview
Each class is more than just a game—it’s a journey into a whimsical world where kings, queens, knights, and other chess pieces come to life through well-crafted stories. Through these adventures, children absorb foundational chess concepts naturally and joyfully, while also building focus, patience, and critical thinking skills.
Piece Mechanics:
Children learn how each chess piece moves, one story at a time.
Opening Strategy:
Children learn to use “Secret Missions” in the opening phase of a game.
Middlegame Tactics:
Tactics attacking and defending in themiddle phase of a game.
Algebraic Notation:
Children learn official chess notationand write down their games.
Endgame Techniques:
Children learn to deliver checkmate and win the game!
Express themselves freely
Art provides a safe and supportive environment for children to explore their emotions and ideas.
Develop problem-solving skills
Through art projects, children learn to think creatively and find solutions to challenges.
Build confidence
As they create and share their work, children gain confidence in their abilities and become adept at expressing themselves creatively, thus enhancing their public speaking skills.
Make new friends
Our HGL Art Preschool's Mini Artists program offers a fun and social environment where children can connect with peers.
Support early childhood development
Art plays a crucial role in supporting early childhood development. It helps children develop fine motor skills, cognitive abilities, and emotional intelligence. By engaging in art activities, children learn to think critically, problem-solve, and express themselves creatively.

While children enjoy their enrichment class druning 3:30 PM-5:50 PM, parents or caregivers are invited to unwind at our cozy on-site cafe, Lucky Lucky Coffee. Enjoy a complimentary latte, LLC coffee, or tea while you relax, read, or connect with other families — a little moment of calm while your child learns and plays.
