Nicole Isabelle

Art Education Advisor
Nicole Isabelle is a New York City based artist and educator. She has taught all ages of
students from toddlers to senior adults, and has built her diverse teaching practice
through over two decades teaching in university settings, public and private schools,
community centers, and outreach initiatives. Nicole has been a preschool classroom
teacher and a school-based art educator. Her background in both early childhood
teaching and studio art aligns well to help HGL ART Preschool establish a thriving art
program and creative identity. Nicole earned an MFA from the University of Hawai'i and
an MAAE in Art Education from the University of Florida. She currently teaches
preschool children by day, and graduate students by night.
Primarily a painter, Nicole makes work about/in/with nature and landscape, as well as
the human body as landscape. She is currently working on a series of artworks in which the markings on the paper are created solely by impressions of her body in motion. She so creates whimsical illustrations and experiments with collage, printmaking, sculpture, and installation art. Her recent painting series, Magic Leaf Paintings, integrate abstract watercolor painting layered with prints of gathered leaves. In early June 2025, Nicole will be in residency at Cowhouse Studios in rural Ireland to work on new paintings and a site-specific soft sculpture installation.
